ANUFC Player selected for FutsalRoos Squad

Tom Rogic who starred in the midfeild for Premier League team last year and plays futsal for ANU Div 1 has been selected to go to the Asian Qualifiers in Jakarta this month on the Australian Futsal Team.

14 players have been named for the qualifying tournament in the Indonesian capital, where the Futsalroos face hosts Indonesia and Myanmar in Group A.

The top two teams advance to the cross-over semi-finals against the best two from Group B – which consists of Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia and the Philippines.

“The group that we have selected are the in-form players from the last few months and recent FFA National Futsal Championships,” said Knight, who was assistant coach to Scott Gilligan when Australia reached the quarter-finals of the 2008 AFC Futsal Championship.

The qualifiers kick off on February 20 and all the matches will be played at the Tennis Indoor Stadium in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta.

The top three teams from the ASEAN zone go through to the Finals, which will be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in May this year.
